Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo lamented his team's series sweep at the hands of the Red Sox on Sunday.

The New York Yankees got dealt a bad hand with Aaron Judge's injury, and they've been folding ever since. Sunday marked another low point of the season as the Yankees got swept by the Boston Red Sox and had a pathetic offensive showing to boot.

Boston overpowered a lame, Judge-less Yankees offense 4-1 to hand them their seventh loss in the last 10 games. In total, New York had just four hits in total with the sole bright spot being Gleyber Torres who hit a two-run homer in the first inning.

Giancarlo Stanton continued his demoralizing slump. Anthony Rizzo picked up an RBI in the first inning but has otherwise been stale at the plate, batting .089 since his neck injury.

After the game, Rizzo stated the obvious about the Yankees' latest loss:

Yankees' offensive woes continue with Red Sox sweep

New York now owns a 39-33 record, 12 games behind the first place Rays.

The Red Sox remain in last place but can take pride in achieving their first series sweep of the Yankees in two years. A strong offensive performance from Alex Verdugo and solid pitching from Brayan Bello ensured that the Yankees were never going to win this game. They never even got close, mustering just two hits after the first inning of the game.

Rizzo's disappointment is no doubt felt by everybody else in the Yankees clubhouse, and fans are left wondering how New York's loaded roster could play so poorly.

Luis Severino gave up four runs and seven hits with three walks, and while a separate conversation should be had about his future with the club, the Yankees need more oomph in their offense. It goes without saying: the fewer the hits, the fewer the wins.

The Yankees will turn their attention to the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday for a much-needed victory.
