For the longest time in Pokémon GO, raids in the game have been separated into either raids marked with a star difficulty, or Mega Raids. Previously, the maximum star difficulty for raids had been five, which denoted a Legendary Pokémon as the raid boss.
With the new update to the Mega Evolution system in the game though, brand new 6-Star Raids have been introduced into Pokémon GO.
6-Star Raids in Pokémon GO Explained
6-Star Raids in Pokémon GO have been introduced as Mega Legendary Raids, meaning that Legendary Pokémon and their Mega Energy will be available after defeating them. The current Pokémon in 6-Star Raids are Mega Latios and Mega Latias, both of which can be found as shiny Pokémon as well.
Because of the new Mega Evolution update, requiring only one Mega Evolution using Mega Energy to permanently unlock the feature, these raids are sure to be among the most sought after in the game as well as the most challenging. Because of the difficulty, many players have found that battling in a group of around eight or ten trainers is the ideal number to take down these Mega Legendary Pokémon.
Due to the amount of people and resources required for 6-Star Raids, some players have felt that there still needs to be balance tweaks to make the raids slightly easier.
