Sergino Dest has joined PSV Eindhoven on loan from Barcelona.

Barcelona have confirmed the departure of right-back Sergino Dest, who has joined PSV Eindhoven on loan with a view to a permanent move.

The 22-year-old United States international, who was born in the Netherlands and rose to prominence on the books at Ajax, spent last season out on loan with AC Milan, where he managed just eight Serie A appearances.

To try and get his career back on track, Dest has now joined PSV on a 12-month loan which includes the option for a permanent transfer.

Should Dest join PSV on a long-term deal, Barcelona will also have the right to a percentage of any future transfer.

Barcelona manager Xavi is desperate to sign a new right-back this summer, but despite Dest publicly insisting he wanted to stay and fight for that spot in the squad, the boss has other plans.

While Real Valladolid's Ivan Fresneda is admired by some in the Barcelona boardroom, it is Manchester City's Joao Cancelo who has been firmly established as the club's top target and 90min understands progress is being made over a loan deal.

Elsewhere, Barcelona are hopeful of finalising another loan move for Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix, who has openly admitted he hopes to join the La Liga champions.
