Ednaldo Rodrigues, president of Brazil's football federation, insists the multi-time World Cup winners have not given up their pursuit of Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti.

CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues has insisted that Brazil have not given up their pursuit of Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Ancelotti has been consistently linked with taking over as Brazil manager following Tite's post-World Cup departure in December 2022, with Rodrigues previously saying that the Real Madrid coach was 'players' favourite' and 'fans' favourite' to take the job.

"Ancelotti is unanimously respected among the players. Not only Ronaldo Nazario or Vinicius Jr, but everyone who has played for him," he said.

“I really admire him for his honesty in the way he works and how constant his work is. He needs no introduction. He really is a top coach who has several achievements and we hope he can have even more. Ancelotti is not only the players' favourite, but he also seems to be the fans' favourite.”

Despite the legendary manager recently stating that he'd be keen to stay at Real Madrid for as long as they want him as their head coach, CBF president Rodrigues has doubled-down on Brazil's interest in Ancelotti and insists all hope is not lost.

“We made a plan, the ‘Plan A’ is Ancelotti. As they say in boxing, I haven’t thrown in the towel yet.”

Brazil's senior team have been managed by interim coach Ramon Menezes since mid-February. The ex-Vasco de Gama player has enjoyed some success as the nation's Under-20 manager, winning the Under-20 South American championship at the start of 2023.

"He is a new coach with a lot of potential," Rodrigues added of Menezes. "We want more people with new and bold ideas in our national teams. He worked with excellency and made his team play in a modern fashion, with all the characteristics of our game.”
