New England Revolution Bruce Arena has been placed temporarily suspended by MLS for 'inappropriate remarks' amidst an ongoing investigation.

New England Revolution head coach and sporting director Bruce Arena has been place on administrative leave by Major League Soccer for 'insensitive and inappropriate remarks.'

Arena has been with the Revs since 2019, having also been in the dugout as the US men's national team head coach on two previous occasions in his career. During his time in New England, he's amassed a record of 68 wins, 43 losses, and 40 draws.

The news comes as a shock for Revs fans as they are enjoying a solid season, sitting second in the Eastern Conference on 43 points and into the round of 32 in the 2023 Leagues Cup against Atlas.

In a report from The Athletic, the 71-year-old was told on Sunday that he was going to be temporarily suspended and that technical director Curt Onalfo and assistant coach Richie Williams would be placed in charge. Revs players were also notified and were not told when Arena would be back.

The Revs released a statement on the situation.

Interim head coach Williams is set to take charge on August 3 against Atlas in the knockout stage of the Leagues Cup.
