Milwaukee Bucks guard MarJon Beauchamp broke the single-game scoring record at the Crawsover Pro-Am in Seattle.
The Crawsover Pro-Am is one of the biggest basketball events of the summer. Over the years, NBA players such as LeBron James, Jayson Tatum, and Aaron Gordon have competed in the league.
This year's Pro-Am features Dejounte Murray, Zach LaVine, Paolo Banchero, Kevin Porter Jr., Tari Eason, Jalen McDaniels, Jaden McDaniels, and MarJon Beauchamp.
Over the weekend, Beauchamp showed out, scoring an event-record 83 points in a single game.
The 22-year-old guard went 32-of-45 from the field and 8-of-17 from 3-point range. The previous record was held by two-time All-Star guard Isaiah Thomas, who scored 81 points in 2021.
MarJon Beauchamp can make an impact for the Bucks this season
The Bucks selected Beauchamp with the No. 24 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. As a rookie, he appeared in 52 games, averaging 5.1 points, 2.2 assists, and 0.7 rebounds. His shooting improved over the course of the campaign. After the All-Star break, he shot 37.5 percent from 3.
In recent years, the organization has given their draft picks meaningful rotation minutes (Jordan Nwora, Donte DiVincenzo, Malcolm Brogdon). That trend should continue with Beauchamp. The Bucks do not have a lot of backcourt depth behind Jrue Holiday and Grayson Allen. Guards Malik Beasley and A.J. Green are knockdown shooters, but Beauchamp is a better defender and has more offensive upside. He is an ideal fit in bench lineups alongside Beasley/Green.
Additionally, the Bucks need a reliable perimeter defender after losing both Jevon Carter and Wesley Matthews in free agency. If Beauchamp can take a leap in his development, he could play a large role this season.
