Call of Duty has brought back the Blueprint Gun Game, a fan-favorite multiplayer mode that has just made its Vanguard debut.
COD players all have their own favorite modes, but not all of them are available in every iteration of the game. The Gun Game made its first appearance back in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare as a bonus game mode and was last seen during Season Two of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Now, with Vanguard Season 4 Mercenaries of Fortune, the mode has made a return to COD in the form of the Blueprint Gun Game.
Vanguard's Season Four kicked off a few days ago, so players might have already had a chance to test out this returning game mode in its Vanguard debut. But, for those who've yet to give it a go, we've detailed what you need to know about the mode and how it works.
How Does Vanguard's Blueprint Gun Game Mode Work?
Blueprint Gun Game shakes up the usual formula for Vanguard's multiplayer. There's no scoreboard or loadouts in this mode. Instead, players race to be the first player to advance through a set of 18 weapons.
Every player starts out with the same weapon and has to progress through the same list. In order to advance, players need to eliminate each other with one weapon to move onto the next.
The final weapon to reach in all matches is the Ice Pick paired with Throwing Knives. The first player to eliminate an enemy with the Throwing Knife or throwing the Ice Pick wins the match.
Players can sabotage each other using melee attacks. Eliminating an enemy with a melee attack sets the enemy back one weapon in the rotation. But, using a melee attack doesn't progress your own weapons.
Hiding in this game mode is futile, too. A UAV pings all Operators on the minimap roughly every five seconds.
Adaptability is key in this mode. Players will need to be proficient in all weapon types to ensure they're the most effective on the battlefield. This game mode is pretty fast and is every player for themselves, so don't be surprised when you're hit with some sneaky attacks.
