WNBA star Candace Parker appeared on ‘GMA’ to promote her new documentary ‘Candace Parker: Unapologetic’

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: ‘Good Morning America’ star Robin Roberts recently interviewed Women’s NBA star Candace Parker on the morning show.

The WNBA star was brought to tears after Roberts played a video message from an unexpected fan which turned out to be her daughter Lailaa Nicole Williams.

Parker, who appeared on ‘GMA’ to promote her new documentary, ‘Candace Parker: Unapologetic’ couldn’t hold herself and told the ‘GMA’ crew that it was “morning and it was too early for her to cry.”

During the interview, the ABC anchor informed Candace that producers were going to play her a video that came from one of the many fans that she has.

Roberts hinted that Parker "might have known" the fan in the tape. When the ‘GMA' team rolled the clip, shown in the snippet was Candace's 14-year-old daughter Lailaa.

Producers pulled a split screen so Lailaa's video and Candace in the ABC studio watching the clip were shown simultaneously.

"Hey mom, you're on the Good Morning [America] show. That's huge," Laila said in the video.

"You are such an amazing mom, and I'm so happy for this like I said...” She added that she "loved watching" the documentary and that she was "very proud" of her mom.

Parker was deeply moved by this clip and couldn’t hold herself back. A teary-eyed Parker told Roberts, “Oh my God you guys are gonna make me cry. Guys, in the morning, it's too early to cry, can't do it.”

Roberts complimented that Parker "was a good mother," given how fondly her daughter spoke of her. "That's the greatest compliment anybody can give you," Parker replied with a shaky voice on the verge of tears.

‘GMA’ fans shower love on Candace Parker

The morning show fans were kind enough to praise Parker for all her accomplishments and the fact that how proud her daughter is of her.

One commented, "Beautiful, special, soulful, chills, and so much more. Congrats Candace” A second said, "When your kids hit you with the I'm proud of you speech, it really does hit hard. I've had that moment and I cried, like a grown man, but I did cry.”

“Proud of you Candice can't wait to watch your story on ESPN,” wrote another. A fan was shocked to learn that Candace had a young daughter and complimented the WNBA star, “Wait what? , Candice has a teen kid, she looks in her 20s....”
