China’s Qin Gang has been removed from his post as foreign minister and replaced by his predecessor Wang Yi, the nation’s top legislative body said Tuesday, according to state media.

The announcement ends a month of speculation over Qin’s fate, after he mysteriously disappeared from public view and Beijing declined to comment on his status.
