As if Chiefs fans weren't already worried enough about the Chris Jones situation, now the defensive tackle's cryptic tweet is reading like goodbye.

Kansas City Chiefs training camp moves on and Chris Jones is still not practicing as the all-world defensive tackle aims to become the highest-paid defensive tackle in the NFL.

Yet, Chiefs general manager Brett Veach and the front office have not yet been able to reach a deal with Jones. And despite comments from coaches and the franchise's brass indicating that they believe a deal will ultimately get done, Jones continues to worry his fans.

After posting an ominous set of lyrics on Instagram Stories last week, he's now chosen another form of social media to send Chiefs fans into a panic.

Jones sent out a message to the city of Kansas City and apparently his fans, one that can only read like goodbye given the nature of the situation right now, saying, "KC… I love you".

Chiefs: Chris Jones appears to say goodbye to Kansas City in cryptic tweet

Much like with the previous post on Instagram, there is at least a possibility that Chiefs fans shouldn't be worried. Veach recently made it clear that he believe it's only a matter of time before Kansas City and Jones find the right contract. It's hard to imagine that the disconnect between the two sides is so large that Jones is ready to leave and Veach is talking optimistically.

As such, there's a chance this is just posturing. Putting more pressure on the front office by getting the fans engaged in the conversation is a tried and true move.

But if we want to be cynical, despite the optimism from the Chiefs front office, there isn't a deal in place. And perhaps there is a feeling from Chris Jones that this isn't going to end in a new contract, hence why he's sent two cryptic messages that could indicate his departure on social media.

Ultimately, there are still several weeks left until Week 1. Until we get closer, there isn't a reason to worry too much. But if you want to be on high alert, that's probably warranted at this point too… just in case.
