The Cubs-Yankees game today was threatened by rain in the Bronx. Check here for updates on the Yankees rain delay and restart time.

The final game of the series between the Cubs and Yankees, and the final game before the All-Star break, didn't make it all the way before the weather got in the way.

With the Cubs leading 6-4, the Yankees called a rain delay in the eighth inning as rain came down hard.

So when will the game resume? We've got all the updates as they come.

Is the Cubs-Yankees game today canceled?

No. So far the game between Chicago and New York is expected to be completed.

Cubs-Yankees rain delay update: Start time after weather delay

This post will be updated as more information about the rain delay is revealed.

UPDATE at 4:33 p.m. ET: Play officially resumed in the Bronx after just over 20 minutes of a delay.

The rain delay was officially called at 4:10 p.m. ET. No restart time has been set.

The necessity of the delay was fairly obvious. Clay Holmes suffered a balk when his foot slipped on the mound as conditions worsened.

The question now is how long the rain will come down and prevent the continuation of the game.

Fans can only hope the weather clears up in short order, but no one can say for sure at this point.

Coming off a win on Saturday, the Yankees had control of the game going into the later innings. Anthony Rizzo drove in a run in the first for NY while Seiya Suzuki hit a home run to tie it up in the fifth inning. Then Anthony Volpe and Kyle Higashioka hit home runs to give the home team a 4-1 lead in the sixth.

The Cubs fought back with a vengeance Jared Young and Yan Gomes brought runs home in the seventh, tying it up at 4-4. Suzuki then drove in a go-ahead run in the top of the eighth before Nico Hoerner added to the advantage by scoring on a wild pitch.
