A trendy preseason dark horse pick, the Atlanta Dream are starting to turn things around, winning three straight to move back to .500 on the season.
Allisha Gray is playing elite basketball right now, pushing her season points per game average to 18.7 while shooting 49.2 percent from the field and 36.7 percent from beyond the arc.
Atlanta has a road matchup with the Dallas Wings on Tuesday, who are trending in the opposite direction.
The Wings have lost three straight games, and they now rank sixth in net rating and 11th in effective field goal percentage this season. Dallas is also just 3-3 against the spread at home in the 2023 season.
Can Gray, Rhyne Howard and company pull off a road win?
Here are the latest odds and my best bet for Tuesday's matchup:
Dream vs. Wings odds, spread and total
Dream vs. Wings prediction and pick
I love the Dream in this spot, as they've played some inspired basketball as of late, beating the New York Liberty, Connecticut Sun and Indiana Fever – all on the road – in their last three games.
That's moved the Dream to 4-1 against the spread on the road this season, and the team is quietly climbing the rankings with some solid shooting (fourth in effective field goal percentage).
Meanwhile, Dallas has been brutal, losing to the Seattle Storm (giving up 109) as part of a three-game losing streak.
I don't trust this Dallas team and its poor shooting (dead last in 3-point percentage) in this game.
Arike Ogunbowale is shooting below 39.0 percent from the field and Natasha Howard is shooting just 39.5 percent from the field.
With Gray playing so well as of late, the Dream are showing why many people thought they'd be a top team in the league. Back them to cover again on Tuesday.
