Although Facundo 'Facu' Farias will be linking up with Lionel Messi in the near future, the versatile forward and midfielder believes his play style is more comparable to Neymar than the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner.
Before officially joining the Herons, Farias revealed that he'd been keeping up with his new club's results in the 2023 Leagues Cup, as they're now just one game away from the final.
"I watched games, the team [Inter Miami] is very good. I feel comfortable on the whole attacking front, I'm available wherever Tata [Martino] wants to put me and I can't wait to play my first minutes," Farias said during his presentation.
Farias is said to play as an attacking midfielder, but the 20-year-old likes to think that he plays more as a forward most of the time.
"I am an aggressive midfielder, front, always forward. I identify with Neymar. I don't identify with Leo [Messi] , but he is the idol of all Argentines."
The former Colon player was unveiled alongside defender Tomas 'Toto' Aviles, who also joined the Herons in the summer transfer window.
Farias explained that he signed with Inter Miami because of the club's vision and the recent growth of MLS, and signaled that joining the Herons wasn't simply because of Lionel Messi.
"This is a very nice league, being in America is very nice. That Facu comes is also a motivation and I am happy for the project. Leo influences a lot but it is a more personal decision. We know the league is going to grow," Farias claimed.
"I was seeing my teammates, I knew that several Argentines had come here. Leo asked us how we were and we already have our heads here, we have already changed clubs. I am available wherever Tata needs me. From central [midfield] I've been doing very well," said Farias.
Miami head coach Gerardo 'Tata' Martino confirmed that Farias will be part of the traveling squad for their Leagues Cup semi-final clash with Philadelphia Union, meaning he could make his club debut before the night is over.
