Georgia football welcomed Ohio State commit Jeremiah Smith for a visit, took the lead for a five-star DB and got a RB back from the portal.

Georgia football's short-term goal is pretty clear: Win a third consecutive national championship.

But Bulldog's long-term goals are as lofty as that one, and may even be equally attainable. The 2024 recruiting class is just one piece of the puzzle as Kirby Smart looks to build a football dynasty to rival Nick Saban's at Alabama.

So this week, the big news swirling around Athens has to do with efforts to land the biggest fish the recruiting trail has to offer.

Jeremiah Smith looks at home in a Georgia uniform

New Georgia quarterback commit Dylan Raiola is hoping to provide plenty of assists to five-star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith once they move up to the college level. He just needs to convince him to flip his commitment from Ohio State to the Bulldogs first.

Raiola delivered his first helping hand to Smith during his official visit over the weekend. He was seen helping the receiver with trying on his uniform on social media.

Further photos of Smith in those threads proved the Georgia uniform suits him just fine.

Raiola is the No. 1 player in the class of 2024 and the centerpiece of Georgia's recruiting class. Smith is the No. 2 player in the class. If the Bulldogs successfully flipped him they'd have the most coveted offensive duo in the class.

While Smith remains an Ohio State commit, there seems to be real momentum in favor of the Dawgs. We'll see if they can keep it up after Smith has his official visit to Ohio State on June 9.

Georgia predicted to land five-star safety KJ Bolden

Even without Jeremiah Smith on board, Georgia has an outstanding recruiting class ranking No. 2 in the 247Sports composite team rankings. And they're looking to get even better.

On Sunday, the Bulldogs got a Crystal Ball prediction from Steve Wiltfong in the recruitment of five-star safety KJ Bolden.

Bolden is the No. 11 player and the top safety in the class. He was in Athens for the annual Georgia scavenger hunt weekend and he'll be back on June 9 for an official visit.

"I have visited Georgia a lot throughout my high school career, but today gave me a feeling that this could be home for the next three to four years," Bolden told Chad Simmons of On3.

As the No. 3 player in the state of Georgia, Bolden has to be a priority for the Bulldogs but even if he wasn't from Kirby Smart's backyard he'd be a coveted prospect.

Georgia has commitments from Dylan Raiola and cornerback Ellis Robinson IV, the No. 1 and No. 4 players in the class. They're working on flipping Smith and they're the Crystal Ball leader for No. 6 overall player Ryan Wingo, a wide receiver out of St. Louis. Adding Bolden to the mix would only help build a potentially legendary class.

Sevaughn Clark withdraws name from transfer portal

Georgia's running back room will be stocked a little more solidly than expected thanks to the return of Sevaughn Clark from the transfer portal.

Clark put his name in the portal after he had two carries for seven yards and a touchdown in the Georgia spring game. The redshirt junior walk-on had five carries for 35 yards in the national title game blowout of TCU.

Now he's back to help the Bulldogs go for a three-peat.

Clark's return is interesting in light of the transfer commitment from former Tennessee running back Len'Neth Whitehead.

The running back room is headlined by Kendall Milton, Daijun Edwards and Branson Robinson. There probably won't be much room for Clark or Whitehead to eat with those three ahead of them, even with Milton returning from a hamstring injury that cut his spring short.
