God of War Ragnarok's release date is set for November 2022, Bloomberg reported Friday. This report, citing three people familiar with the game's development, contradicts reports published by other outlets this week claiming the game would be delayed to 2023.
Sony is said to have a release date announcement planned for later this month, per two of Bloomberg's sources. Jason Schreier, the author of the report, emphasized that video game development is "turbulent," and that it's possible the game could be delayed again, but that for now Sony is targeting November.
One previous report, by the European site GameReactor, cited "several European sources." The site has since appended a correction to its story, saying it believes Bloomberg's report to be more accurate than its own.
The second previous report, by VGC, cited a placeholder release date for the game on PlayStation Network changing from Sept. 30 to Dec. 31 as an indication the game had been pushed back. That story has also been updated to reflect Bloomberg's reporting.
Sony announced Ragnarok in 2020, but has delayed the game several times in the ensuing years, both publicly and internally. It had previously expected the game to arrive in September, but pushed the date back to November as the development team continued to face challenges in the process.
Sony did not respond to a request for comment from Bloomberg.
