Late-night show host Greg Gutfeld urged his audience to stop putting people down just for their political takes

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Actor and comedian Bob Odenkirk recently opened up about his near-death experience and how his political leaning as a liberal almost cost him his life.

Fox News host Greg Gutfeld could not help but mock the 'Better Call Saul' actor for his refusal to listen to his doctor's advice, just because he had conservative beliefs. The host did a segment on this on his late-night show 'Gutfeld!'s Tuesday, September 19, broadcast.

Gutfeld went on to discuss the harm it could do to people if they identified each other only through political beliefs and not as humans.

Bob Odenkirk confesses his political views came in the way of his good health

While on the set of his popular show's last season in 2021, the Saul Goodman actor had a heart attack that almost killed him. He confessed this in an episode of Tig Notaro's podcast, where he revealed that he was asked to take medicines to lower his cholesterol level.

He was skeptical of the doctor, given that he supported the Republican party and disapproved of Obamacare, so he took advice from another doctor who told him that he didn't "need medicine yet."

The first doctor, whom he called a "cranky conservative jackass," turned out to be right in his diagnosis. Odenkirk said the incident taught him to not judge a person's capabilities on the basis of their political views.

Gutfeld pointed out that Odenkirk "didn't need to talk about this in public but he wanted everyone to know the tough lesson he learned."

Greg Gutfeld urges for political discourse to be separated from daily life

The late-night show host urged his audience to stop putting people down just for their political takes.

"We need to start seeing each other as human beings again," Gutfeld said. "Not just pawns of two opposing political parties. Our lives are more important than some dumb agenda...We are people, not talking points."

Gutfeld, in his classic comic fashion, also continued to mock Odenkirk.

"Imagine if he had a far-left doctor who had told him not to do anything to prevent heart disease," the host said. "Because you know, there are too many humans on the planet already. Because he is an old white guy who doesn't have the decency to appear as an old white woman. Because politics will indeed matter when you have a woke doctor who is only concerned with equity."
