The Cleveland Guardians are just 2.5 games out of first place in the AL Central, and they could use a win against the Arizona Diamondbacks, who are in first place in the NL West in order to bolster their standing.
Arizona is 7-3 in its last 10 games, but it could be at a disadvantage in this game due to the pitching matchup.
Shane Bieber (5-3, 3.29 ERA) gets the ball for Cleveland against Tommy Henry (3-1, 4.86 ERA).
Henry has been due for some regression, posting a 5.62 Fielding Independent Pitching on the season, and he's started to show that this month.
Here are the latest odds and my best bet for this evening matchup:
Guardians vs. Diamondbacks odds, run line and total
Guardians vs. Diamondbacks prediction and pick
This is an easy bet for me, especially since Bieber has looked great this month.
After allowing seven earned runs to the Baltimore Orioles in his final start of May, Bieber has bounced back with 12.2 innings of work, allowing just one earned run over that stretch.
Now, he gets a matchup against a tough Diamondbacks offense, but I think he can keep them in check enough for the Guardians to get to Henry.
In June, Henry made two starts, allowing 14 hits, 10 earned runs and four walks in nine innings of work.
The Guardians are 27th in MLB in OPS against left-handed pitching, but that's actually better than their season-long rank.
Take Cleveland to win this game with Bieber on the mound.
