Since the very beginning of Pokémon GO's release, Eevee has always been a popular Pokémon. Unlike main franchise games, there is seemingly no way to get the specific evolution of Eevee that you are looking for in Pokémon GO. Despite that, there have always been ways to get your preferred evolution, and while that has gotten a bit more complicated with the inclusion of more and more Pokémon generations (and Eevee evolutions), that still remains true today. Here's everything you need to know about evolving Eevee into Umbreon on Pokémon GO.
How to Evolve Eevee into Umbreon in Pokémon GO
There are two different ways to guarantee that your Eevee will evolve into an Umbreon in Pokémon GO. The first way is the iconic naming method, which involves changing the name of the Eevee you are trying to evolve into a specific name, and getting a specific evolution depending on what name that Eevee has. This only works once per evolution of Eevee, so if you intend to use this method make sure that your Eevee is the right one to become Umbreon. For Umbreon specifically, changing your Eevee's name to âTamaoâ will guarantee it evolving into Umbreon.
The second way reflects the way that Umbreon evolves in the main Pokémon games more closely. It involves using the buddy system present in Pokémon GO. To evolve your Eevee into an Umbreon this way, set the desired Eevee to your buddy, and earn two candies walking with it (10km). After this, evolve Eevee during the night, and it will evolve into an Umbreon. If you evolve it during the day, you will get an Espeon instead.
