Many 'Young, Famous & African' fans felt Bonang Matheba was just 'too big' for the other cast members

JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA: Season 2 of 'Young, Famous & African' has begun and is presently trending. While the regular cast members deliver their customary drama, all eyes are on the show's newest cast member, media star Bonang Matheba. While the TV and radio host does not appear much on the show, she has had an effect on fans, who were sorely disappointed when they didn't see much of her beyond the first few episodes.

Many fans believe that the celebrity was "too big" for the rest of the cast members. As she made her exit from the show, many fans tweeted that 'Queen B' was just out of their league.

'I think that was very cold'

So far, 'Young, Famous & African' Season 2 has been a lot of fun. Nadia Nakai gushed over her late boyfriend AKA in the first few episodes of the Netflix reality series. We've seen Annie Idibia sob over her husband 2Baba's adultery, and celebrity stylist Swanky Jerry leap down everyone's necks.

Bonang makes her grand appearance in Episode 1 at a dinner party organized by Tanzanian artist Diamond Platnumz.

Swanky, a Nigerian socialite and fashion designer, introduces her to the exclusive group. However, as soon as Bonang enters the party, Nadia and her friend Khanyi Mbau leave. In a confessional, Bonang stated, "I feel very awkward. Because just how people welcome me, I think that was very cold."

Nadia subsequently admits to holding a grudge towards Queen B. Without delving into specifics, the rapper describes their relationship as follows, "I think I was more heartbroken, 'cause I really felt like she was my sis. You know, things happen in a relationship. You fall out, and that’s ok."

'BONANG is too big for this cast'

Commenting on her short-stay on the show, a viewer tweeted, "I see a lot of people saying Bonang is "too big" for the show which I agree with but I see this as a smart business move B used Netflix to broaden her audience, got the check & moved." Another person added, "So Bonang showed up for like two minutes then left but she had a whole episode under her name and she was used for the whole #YoungFamousAfrican promo!??? that's some queen shii right there!!" One person tweeted, "But honestly, BONANG is too big for this cast… way way way out of this league." Calling her too big for the circle, one person wrote, "Lol. Bonang left ? Not at all surprised. I did feel like she was too big for the circle."

A heartbroken fans tweeted, "Okay. I literally stopped watching because Bonang left the group and I feel scammed." Blaming other cast members for her departure, another fan wrote, "So Bonang left the show, and I’m sure is because of those two SA wanna be divas." Another user tweeted, "But Swanky lied to Bonang. Basically, he's the reason she left the show, not Luis." Some fans were quite happy about why she chose to left. A fan tweeted, "Listen, I understand why Bonang left though. It's the same reason Ayanda left #RHODurban, certain things aren't worth being apart of if they could potentially ruin your brand. Prioritise your brand because that's what makes you money."
