When the iPhone 15 makes its debut, the iPhone 15 Pro may get a hefty storage bump.

According to 9to5Mac, the iPhone 15 Pro will have storage tiers that start at 256GB and go up to 2TB. Currently, the iPhone 14 Pro lineup comes in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB configurations.

9to5Mac cites Korean blogger yeux1122, who claims to have gotten the 2TB information from a supplier source. It also points to a Weibo user who says storage tiers for the device will start at 256GB rather than 128GB, although they mention that number as a “hope” rather than a reality.

A 256GB starting point would likely mean that each storage level would be doubled from the iPhone 14, making the options for the device 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB. That extra storage could come in handy for things like Pro Res recording mode (when shooting 4K60 video), which quickly chews through storage.

The iPhone 15 is rumored to be a bit more expensive than its predecessors at launch, which 9to5Mac notes might be due in part to these larger storage sizes. Previously the higher price tag, which is rumored to be $100-$200 more per model, was attributed to the phones' enhanced features.

Competing phones like the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra currently top out at 1TB.

This weekend, Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman said that Apple’s iPhone 15 announcement will likely come on Sept. 12 or 13, keeping with the company’s tradition of making its iPhone announcements in mid-September. 9to5 Mac also reports that “mobile carriers have been asking employees not to take days off on September 13 due to a major smartphone announcement.”

In addition to a higher price tag, the iPhone 15 is expected to have a Dynamic Island at the top rather than a notch across all models and is expected to charge using USB-C rather than Apple’s Lightning charger. Much like previous updates, the phone is also expected to get an improved processor as well as an updated camera. This year’s release is also anticipated to have a smaller bezel than previous versions, allowing for more screen space.
