Diego Maradona was one of the greatest Argentinian footballers in the history of the sport. In FIFA, he's received Icon cards in each of the last six installments, ranging from 91 all the way to 98-rated.
Maradona was removed from FIFA 22 packs midway through the year, after a dispute over his licensing between EA Sports and his estate, with his existing cards and price on the transfer market remaining the same. This brought questions about the Icon's future in FIFA. With the next game on the horizon, will Diego Maradona be in FIFA 23?
Is Diego Maradona in FIFA 23?
According to Ultimate Team Leaker FutSheriff on Twitter, Maradona will still feature in FIFA 23 when the game is revealed. It is still a bit early before the launch of FIFA 23, so that decision to keep Maradona may change within the coming months. However, Sheriff says that Maradona will remain in the game.
As well as Maradona, FutSheriff also says that Marco Van Basten and Marc Overmars will also remain in the next installment of FIFA after being suspended from FIFA 22. Their reasons for being removed did concern negative behavior and conduct unlike Maradona, so it'll be interesting if they do stay in the game. We'll have to wait for EA to give news on these Icons prior to the release of FIFA 23.
