The Green Monster at Fenway Park is alive, as confirmed by the fact it literally ate a baseball during Wednesday's Boston Red Sox vs. Kansas City Royals game.

Fenway Park is one of the most unique ballparks in all of MLB. There's Pesky's Pole in right field that can really steal some home runs, considering it's only 302 feet from home plate. Then, there's the Green Monster, a 37-foot-plus wall in left field that eliminates line drive homers. Well, the Green Monster lived up to its moniker on Wednesday.

During the game between the Boston Red Sox and the Kansas City Royals, Kyle Isbel hit a line drive to left field off of pitcher Nick Pivetta and over outfielder Masataka Yoshida's head. As it flew over Yoshida's glove, the baseball bounced off of the field and crashed through the Out #1 light.

Yes, the Green Monster ate a baseball.

Green Monster eats a baseball, gives an assist to Red Sox

Pretty sure no Red Sox fan has ever seen this before. As it turns out, this anomaly benefitted the Red Sox.

Because the baseball crashed through the light, it was officially ruled a ground-rule double. Due to that, it prevented Matt Duffy from scoring home to extend the Royals' lead to 2-0. So, Duffy had to stay at third base. Boston got out of the jam after forcing Maikel Garcia to fly out, ending the top half of the inning and keeping the score 1-0.

Luckily for the Red Sox, they were able to tie the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the second inning after a solo home run by Triston Casas.

The Green Monster not only prevented a run from getting scored, but it also helped the Red Sox tie the game in the second half of that inning. Award a star of the game to the Green Monster.
