Mauricio Pochettino asks to be more involved in Chelsea's transfer business before the January transfer window.

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed he expects to be more involved in the club's transfer business after a hectic first window at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues signed no fewer than 12 first-team players this summer, continuing their record-breaking spending spree, but Chelsea are yet to see the results on the pitch as Pochettino's side have tumbled down to 14th heading into this weekend's action.

Finding a new striker is thought to be among Chelsea's top priorities in the January transfer window, with Brentford's Ivan Toney, Napoli's Victor Osimhen and Feyenoord's Santiago Gimenez among the options under consideration.

Pochettino hopes to be involved in the conversations about new signings and is keen to start work on recruitment as soon as possible.

"The good thing, the relationship is very good with the owners and the sporting directors," he explained. "I think like I told before, when the transfer window was closed, I need to be involved, more involved now, in every single decision. I think we need to start identifying what we need for January.

"I think football is very dynamic, it's the present always. Things can change until January. Now we need to work and try to recover [Christopher] Nkunku and of course Armando Broja and to try and provide the team more goals and to be more solid but of course, parallel to working to improvise to improve the team and the way we assess the team for the competition. But of course, we already start to work."

Before Pochettino can even begin to think about January, the boss must find an immediate solution to the suspension of Nicolas Jackson.

The summer signing has picked up five yellow cards for dissent already this season and will be banned for Monday's meeting with Fulham, for which Pochettino has limited options in attack.

Asked if he had spoken with Jackson about his behaviour on the pitch, Pochettino said: "We were talking because we talk a lot between the players and the coaching staff. It's things you cannot stop.

"Sometimes you are really anxious to score and to do well so sometimes you forget things, that is why you need experience and to be more mature. For sure, he is growing and really fast. Yes, we are going to miss him for Monday but hopefully after he scored against Brighton, his confidence will be higher than before."
