The New York Mets were swept at the hands of the Toronto Blue Jays over the weekend and now have to head to Atlanta to take on the Braves in a three-game series.
Carlos Carrasco will get the start for the Mets and things have not gone well for them through his first six starts this season, sitting with a 5.74 ERA. Meanwhile, they'll have to face one of the best pitchers so far in 2023, Bryce Elder.
Elder is sporting a 1.92 ERA through 11 starts.
Let's take a look at the odds for tonight's series opener and then I'll give you my best bet.
Mets vs. Braves odds, run line, and total
Mets vs. Braves prediction and pick
The Mets offense continues to struggle. Over the last 14 days, the Mets are 21st in the Majors in OPS while ranking 18th in that stat over the last 30 days. It's going to be tough to back them from a betting perspective until their bats wake up and get hot for a significant amount of time.
Their offense isn't going to start to get hot today either. Bryce Elder has allowed more than two runs in a game only twice all season. He has yet to face the Mets this season.
Meanwhile, the Mets are rolling with Carrasco. He has yet to face a dynamite offense this season, with his first six starts coming against the Brewers, Marlins, Athletics, Guardians, Cubs, and Phillies. Even with that weak schedule, his ERA is abysmal.
Now, he has to take on one of the best offenses in the Majors in the Braves.
It's Braves or nothing for me tonight.
