Max Scherzer has had a disappointing start to his season to say the least, sporting a 3-2 record an a 4.01 ERA through his first seven starts this season.
He'll make his eighth start tonight when he and the Mets start a three game series against the Rockies in Colorado.
Let's dive into the odds for tonight's game and then I'll give you my best bet.
Mets vs. Rockies odds, run line, and total
Mets vs. Rockies prediction and pick
There's no arguing that the Mets shouldn't be favored, but I don't think they should be favored by this much. Max Scherzer, at almost 39 years old, has finally regressed and it's time for us to stop pricing the Mets in his started as if it's the same version of Sherzer from three years ago.
It's also worth noting that a lot of the offensive numbers between these two teams are extremely similar. In fact, their OPS is almost identical. The Rockies come in at .715 and the Mets are behind them right at .714.
The betting value is on the Rockies in this one.
