Major League Soccer has cleared star midfielder Emanuel Reynoso to return to Minnesota United in a time when the Loons need him most.
The Loons will be delighted with Reynoso's return, after he's failed to feature in 2023. The team is quickly slipping down the Western Conference table, given their five-game unbeaten streak to start the 2023 season and could definitely use the midfielder.
Reynoso was originally suspended by the league without pay back in February after failing to report to preseason camp. Now, Minnesota United hope to have their playmaker back in the side within the next month.
The Argentina international has been a key figure in Adrian Heath's squad with 18 goals and 35 assists in 76 MLS regular season and playoff games. Reynoso has been at the club since 2020 after joining from Boca Juniors and recently signed a new long-term deal that runs through the 2026 season.
With Reynoso, Minnesota has finished in a playoff spot in three consecutive seasons. Their highest finish with Reynoso leading the way was in 2020 when they climbed to fourth place in the West.
Minnesota has collected 12 points from 11 games played this season, with a record of three wins, three draws and five losses that has them placed ninth in the Western Conference table. They will look to build on Reynoso's return and establish themselves in the playoff picture in the months to come.
