The Wizards have re-signed Kyle Kuzma to a four-year deal worth $102 million dollars in a move that makes no sense for the team.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Wizards have signed Kyle Kuzma to a four-year, $102 million deal for some reason.

This is a team that is destined for a rebuild and now has two long-term deals for players who are not the most desirable when they are not short-term deals.

Kuzma was a trade target that could have been moved at the trade deadline last season and he ended up staying with the team due to the previous regiWashingme wanted to keep him around.

They ended up firing that old regime, and starting a new era of Wizards basketball by sign-and-trading Kristaps Porziņģis and trading Bradley Beal. It seemed like Kuzma would be the next guy to go but the team ended up signing him to a disaster of a contract.

Why did the Wizards re-sign Kyle Kuzma?

Honestly, this deal does not make a lot of sense. In recent reports, it was expected that Kuzma would end up going to the Rockets but instead, he decided to come back to the Wizards for some weird reason.

They will be able to fill seats with this contract. Jordan Poole and Kyle Kuzma are certainly players that you can put on a billboard but this signing did not really make a lot of sense for a team that is rebuilding.

It does not make any sense for the Wizards to overpay for a player in free agency. Instead of possibly signing a player to a bad contract, the Wizards could have used their cap space to acquire assets for a bad contract.

If Kuzma is able to play like he did this season, the Wizards might be able to get rid of him at next year's trade deadline. Still, that return would most likely be low-value due to the fact that he has a long-term contract. Teams do not like trading for role players on long-term contracts unless they are good-value deals.
