Ohio State offensive lineman Avery Henry has some fantastic news to share: he's cancer-free after being diagnosed back in December.

Ohio State rising sophomore Avery Henry hasn't played a single snap for his team, but he's already considered a Buckeyes hero.

Henry revealed that he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a bone cancer, in December of 2022. He began treatment shortly after, and now, a little over four months later, he has much more uplifting news: he did it. He beat cancer.

The Ohio native tweeted the news on Thursday, saying that he still had a few more treatments to go but that he appeared to be in remission.

Henry also noted that he was "ready to tell my story" to any reporters interested in an interview.

Ohio State offensive lineman Avery Henry just beat cancer

Henry, a member of the 2022 Ohio State recruiting class, took a hiatus last season to focus on his recovery. Back when he was diagnosed, he tweeted that he was grateful for all the support he's received and told people he wasn't "a statistic."

This past year, he kept his fans in the loop about his chemo treatments and posted a picture in February depicting him and his brother with shaved hair.

It's a feel-good story that just can't be beat.

In his early playing career, Henry helped his high school reach the regional finals as a senior; he was touted as a three-star prospect and rated as a top-10 offensive lineman in Ohio.

With one triumphant chapter of his life closed, Henry can now turn his attention to football and making an impact in the Buckeyes' offense next season. Michigan fans will have a hard time cheering against him given his backstory, but Henry didn't beat cancer just so he could lose to those pesky Wolverines. It's game on.
