The developers working on Overwatch 2 have hinted at which heroes will be the next to see balance changes in a blog post going over play and win rates in the first Overwatch 2 beta.
The list of heroes that need adjustments doesn't precisely line up with those that had the highest win rate. For instance, Symmetra had the highest win rate in the beta at around 60%. But that statistic is misleading, padded by players understanding Symmetra's use cases and swapping off her as soon as she's no longer relevant.
Instead, Orisa, Doomfist and Zenyatta are the heroes in the crosshairs for changes.
"Orisa remains unchanged for now, as it is still unclear if she is bad, or if the community at large is just bad at her," Blizzard wrote in its blog post. "We're leaning towards the latter, as well seemed to have that one friend who steamrolled through the beta with Orisa and her new kit. However, future changes to Orisa and Doomfist are currently being explored."
Blizzard didn't explain what form changes for Orisa and Doomfist might take.
Zenyatta experienced a dramatic win rate bump after he received buffs to his HP.
"Historically, we have observed that changes to heroes' health pools have had the most dramatic effects on win rates, so this was not entirely unexpected. We will be monitoring Zenyatta's newfound power (as well as his Snap Kicks) with great interest," Blizzard wrote.
More information about the next round of beta testing will be revealed in the near future, Blizzard says, with an Overwatch 2 event scheduled for June 16.
