Overwatch 2's new Heroes will be available to unlock as part of the free Battle Pass, according to new leaks.

Unlike the original Overwatch, in which a full roster of Heroes were available upon purchase of the game, Overwatch 2 will allow players to unlock Heroes as part of its new Battle Pass. As the upcoming sequel is set to transition to a free-to-play model, the question of how the shooter will enable fans to unlock Heroes started to arise.

Overwatch leaker Naeri took to Twitter to reveal new Support Hero, fox girl 'Kiriko.' In the post, it was revealed that the game's new Heroes, including Kiriko, can be obtained by unlocking them as part of the free Battle Pass. This is even the case for those who do not purchase the premium Battle Pass.

The post only seems to specify that the new Heroes will be unlockable in this fashion. It's unclear if Overwatch's existing Heroes will all be made available for free, or if some will only be obtainable for a price.

Overwatch commercial leader and VP Jon Spector posted onto Twitter yesterday confirming that free paths to the new Heroes will be available in future seasons, so players who fail to unlock the characters as part of one free Battle Pass will have more chances to do so later on.
