The Philadelphia Phillies have not had the start to their 2023 season that they would have expected after winning the National League Pennant in 2022.
Nonetheless, they'll be able to find some momentum this weekend if they can have any level of success against the NL East leading Atlanta Braves, who have a 5.5 game lead on the division.
Let's take a look at the odds for Thursday night's series opener and then I'll give you my best bets.
Phillies vs. Braves odds, run line, and total
Phillies vs. Braves prediction and pick
Dylan Dodd will be making his fourth career start in the Majors, but don't be fooled by his 6.46 ERA. Two of his first three starts were solid, but one bad game against the San Diego Padres where he allowed seven earned runs has skewed his ERA ahead of tonight's game.
This should be a great spot for Dodd as he faces a Phillies offense that has been abysmal in May, ranking 25th in OPS this month.
Meanwhile, the Braves enter the game ranking third in OPS, and with them stumbling lately, going 5-5 in their last 10 games, this could be a good buy low spot for them.
I'll take the Braves tonight as a pick'em against the Phillies.
