Pokémon GO’s Festival of Lights event runs from Oct. 14 to Monday, Oct. 17, giving trainers the chance to participate in Timed Research tasks for the opportunity to earn rewards and catch special, warm, light-bringing Pokémon. With not much time left, here is a guide on all of the Timed Research available during this limited-time event.
This event comes just before Pokémon GO’s Halloween event. The Festival of Lights is meant to celebrate the luminous Pokémon in the franchise. For this event, Morelull and its evolution Shiinotic are making their debut in Pokémon GO. These Grass and Fairy-type Pokémon can prove to be great additions to any team due to their Spore Effect.
How to Complete the Festival of Lights Timed Research
There are two steps to the event’s Timed Research Tasks. There are individual rewards when completing the individual tasks, and another for fully finishing all of the tasks in each step. These steps must be completed in order, so below are Festival of Lights Time Research Tasks and their corresponding rewards:
Step 1
Reward for completing all tasks: 2,500XP and a Galarian Ponyta Encounter
- Catch 25 Pokémon | 25 Poké Balls
- Hatch 2 eggs | Morelull encounter
- Make 15 nice throws | 20 Great Balls
- Make 10 great throws | 10 Ultra Balls
- Make 5 curveball throws | 10 Pinap Berries
- Use 10 berries to help catch Pokémon | Dedenne encounter
Step 2
Reward for completing all tasks: 2,500 XP and Sparkler trainer pose cosmetic
- Catch 25 Pokémon | 25 Poké Balls
- Walk 5 km | 3 Golden Razz Berries
- Evolve 3 Pokémon | Chinchou encounter
- Make 10 great throws | 20 Great Balls
- Spin 25 PokéStops or gyms | 3 Silver Pinap Berries
- Take snapshots of 10 different wild Pokémon | Litwick encounter
