Just days after making one of the most talked about roster moves in Valorant history in bringing CS:GO legend Shroud out of esports retirement, Sentinels have made another roster change acquiring Zellsis from Version1 to add to their roster ahead of the Last Chance Qualifiers for the Valorant Champions tournament.
Senitnels were in need of a large roster shake-up, given their most recent winless performance at the VCT Stage 2: Challengers NA Group Stage, leading them to limp into the final Last Chance Qualifying spot for this year's Valorant Champions tournament.
Perhaps just as needed was a new team for Zellis one of many former CS:GO players making the switch to Valorant, and having just finished a disappointing campaign with Version1, who failed to even qualify for the Last Chance Qualifiers.
This second roster change just before their final opportunity to qualify for the Valorant Champions solidifies to fans and other teams that Sentinels are coming to play for keeps. Many fans were excited at the prospect of Shroud rejoining the esports scene, but questioned whether this was a commercial move rather than a competitive one.
But with Sentinels doubling down on roster updates, news coming out recently that Shroud and Zellis will be bootcamping with the entire Sentinels Valorant team, fans should be a little bit more excited about what this new look squad might be able to achieve. Frankly, any reasonably deep bracket run in the Last Chance Qualifiers could reasonably be considered a success given the turbulent and often disappointing season up until this point, but the two veterans on Sentinels will be aiming much higher.
