Amazon's Echo has gone through a lot since debuting eight years ago. The talking speaker was originally only available for Prime members, but it quickly became a must-own accessory and kicked off a tidal wave of smart home products from competitors including Apple and Google.

The onboard Alexa voice-controlled AI can play music, interface with other devices, order products from Amazon and more. The diverse product line now includes touch screens, Dolby Atmos speakers, and even special Echos for kids.

Prime Day is a great time to save on Amazon-made smart devices, and while Amazon hasn't made any official announcements, it's a good bet we'll see the shopping holiday kick off in the next few weeks. If you can't wait, here are our picks for the best Echo deals you can grab now.

Echo Show 15

Echo Show 15

The Echo Show 15 is the largest smart display that Amazon offers (so far), and it's designed to be hung on a wall. Featuring built-in Fire TV functionality, this model weighs a little over 4 pounds and comes with a mounting bracket to secure it to a flat surface. The 1,920-by-1,080-pixel touch screen is clear and crisp, and all of the voice commands and Alexa functionality you'd expect is here, making it solid for smart home optimization. Echo Show 8

Echo Show 8

The tabletop Echo Show 8 is one of our all-around favorite smart displays, combining a bright screen, surprisingly good audio, and a panoply of actually helpful apps. In our review, we praised the 13MP camera with auto-framing, which makes the endless Zooms you have to do crisp and flattering. Home automation is also a strong point, with security camera integration, smart appliance support, and Amazon's Sidewalk performance improvement system. The Show 8 is a true multi-purpose tool that can be used by every member of the family.

Amazon Echo (4th Gen)

Amazon Echo

Amazon's last iteration of the Echo came out in 2020, but it's still a solid smart device with remarkably good audio performance. The 4th gen Echo took home our Editors' Choice award after abandoning the traditional cylinder in favor of a globe form factor. All of the Alexa features you expect are on board, powered by the AZ1 Neural Edge processor. Sound quality is one of the biggest draws, with a surprisingly robust low end. If you don't need a screen for your smart device, you can't beat the price on the 4th gen Echo.

Echo Dot (5th Gen)

Amazon Echo Dot

Amazon's pint-size Echo Dot introduced motion sensors to let you control the device with a simple tap, and the sphere delivers a lot of functionality in a small form factor. In our review, we called out the Dot's robust bag of tricks, including the ability to act as an Eero wireless network node that boasts 1,000 square feet of coverage. The low price is designed to incentivize you to scatter them throughout your house, and as part of a larger smart home system, the Dot is a very solid choice.

Echo Dot Kids (5th Gen)

Amazon Echo Dot Kids

The wise little owl (or a dragon, if that's more your speed) that is the 5th gen Echo Dot Kids offers a solid introductory smart device that young ones can use to access Amazon's massive library of age-appropriate audio—songs, stories, and more. The hardware is the exact same as the standard Dot, so everything in our review of that device applies here. A two-year warranty also takes some of the stress out of letting kids play with it.

Echo Studio

Amazon Echo Studio

Audiophiles have an Echo all their own. As we noted in our review, the Echo Studio deploys five drivers to deliver Dolby Atmos stereo sound from a 7.7 pound cylinder. The quality is comparable to significantly more expensive devices, and compatibility with Amazon's Ultra HD music streaming format means spatial audio with incredible separation. Of course, it does all the voice-activated personal assistant stuff you expect from an Echo, but this baby's all about the speaker.
