Tottenham Hotspur are continuing talks to secure the signing of Nottingham Forest's Brennan Johnson and are growing in confidence over getting a deal done, sources have confirmed to 90min.
The 22-year-old Welsh star, who can play anywhere across the forward line, has emerged as Spurs' top target ahead of Friday's transfer deadline.
Manager Ange Postecoglou has approved the move as he looks to bolster Spurs' attacking options and sees Johnson as an ideal fit for his team.
Johnson has also attracted interest from Chelsea and Brentford, but he made it clear that Spurs were his preferred destination and the two teams have been locked in talks for the past few weeks.
Spurs have seen offers rejected for Johnson but sources have confirmed to 90min that there is a renewed optimism about the deal and an agreement is close to being reached. Forest have set an asking price of £50m for their young star.

Forest boss Steve Cooper admitted he is in the dark over Johnson's future and did not know whether he will still be able to call on him this weekend ahead of their Premier League clash with Chelsea.
"If something’s going to happen then it’s coming to that time," he said.
"We shall see. In terms of Brennan there’s no official news, we just have to carry on as normal. The boys are in for training and we’ll treat it as best we can like a normal day."
Forest are preparing for Johnson's exit with the signing of Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi, who is due to finalise his move on Friday.
