Stellantis NV has made additional concessions to the United Auto Workers and the union aims to announce a tentative agreement this afternoon, according to people familiar with the negotiations.

The recent concessions relate to job security and include keeping an engine plant open in Trenton, Michigan, and building a vehicle in the company’s idled Illinois assembly plant, said the people, who weren’t authorized to talk publicly.

Stellantis has also agreed to a 25% hourly pay raise plus cost-of-living allowances over the more-than-four-year contract, following the lead of Ford Motor Co.

Negotiators are still ironing out some remaining details to end the six-week strike, one of the people said, and the timing could slip. A spokesperson for Stellantis declined to comment. A spokesperson for the UAW didn’t respond to requests for comment.

Once there’s a tentative agreement, it must be approved by union leadership and then voted on by the company’s union members, a process that could take weeks.

Talks at General Motors Co. continue and the two sides are trying to get a deal this weekend, the people said.
