Valve is selling certified refurbished Steam Decks complete with the same one-year warranty as new versions of the handheld and a carry case.

Announced on X, Valve says that supplies are limited because inevitably those supplies rely on a number of factors outside of its control. However, if you don't mind waiting, you could save yourself around about 25% on the cost of a Steam Deck.

Just like with the new models, Valve is offering all three versions of the Deck in refurbished form. The 64GB version costs $319 ($399 new), the 256GB version costs $419 ($529 new), and the 512GB version costs $519 ($649 new). At the time of writing, both the 256GB and 512GB models are available to purchase in refurbished form.

Certified refurbished means Valve has carried out a complete factory reset and performed over 100 tests on the components including the controller inputs, audio system, and display. The battery is also tested "to ensure proper functionality and longevity." Valve says "all refurbished units meet or even exceed the performance standards of new retail units," but you'll have to accept a few blemishes.

Anyone deciding to buy a refurbished Steam Deck can do so safe in the knowledge that if a component does break, it's going to be relatively easy to fix. Valve selected iFixit to be an authorized seller for Steam Deck replacement parts, which iFixit started selling alongside the required tools and detailed guides last year.
