Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has named the two Premier League shirts he owned growing up.

Napoli star Victor Osimhen has revealed he owned the shirts of two Premier League clubs when he was growing up - Manchester United and Chelsea.

Osimhen has become one of the most fearsome strikers in the world over the past few years. The Nigerian arrived in Europe with Wolfsburg in 2017 after being scouted at the Under-17 World Cup two years earlier. He later found his feet on loan in Belgium before a breakout year at Lille prompted Napoli to pay a club record €70m, potentially rising to €80m for his services.

After improving year on year in Italy, Osimhen netted 31 times in all competitions last season as Napoli claimed their first Serie A title since 1990 and the days of Diego Maradona.

Napoli had been hoping to tie Osimhen down to a new contract, although a deal has not been concluded for a number of reasons and his relationship with the club is believed to have soured in the wake of a video posted on official club channels mocking him.

Despite an impressive return of six goals in eight Serie A appearances this season prior to being ruled out with injury, speculation about a departure from Napoli has only grown. His latest comments about the teams he seemingly followed as a child will only fuel that.

"I had two jerseys, one was Chelsea and one was Manchester United," Osimhen revealed in the newest episode of John Obi Mikel's The Obi One Podcast.

In the same episode, ex-Chelsea midfielder Mikel told Osimhen: "Next season, I know you're going to come to Chelsea. I'm telling you, I'm going to be the agent to broker that deal. I'm going to make sure that happens. We are crying out for someone like you...since Didier Drogba left the club."

The Blues have been eyeing Osimhen for some time and 90min understands they intend to wait to see if he will sign a new contract with Napoli in the coming weeks. For the 24-year-old to agree that deal, Napoli may need to include a significant pay rise and a release clause.

Last summer, Napoli were seeking up to €150m (£131m) for Osimhen, but his value will only fall the closer his current contract gets to its 2025 expiration. Manchester United had been weighing up interest in Osimhen and Harry Kane before turning to Rasmus Hojlund.
