Call of Duty: Warzone Season 5: Last Stand, the final season of content for Vanguard, was announced in full by Activision Thursday.
From map updates to the new Gulag, new weapons and more, here's a breakdown of everything you need to know about the Call of Duty: Warzone Season 5 roadmap.
Warzone Season 5 Release Date
The Last Stand update is set to go live in Warzone on Wednesday, Aug. 24, at 12 p.m. ET.
Warzone Season 5 Theme
The theme for Warzone Season 5: Last Stand is the return of iconic series villains (e.g. Gabriel T. Rorke) who are looking to sabotage Caldera.
Warzone Season 5 Operation: Last Call LTM
Operation: Last Call is said to be a new limited-time Warzone mode inspired by Search and Destroy. Players can choose to defend Caldera by defusing bombs around the island, or sabotage it by detonating the explosives at designated bomb sites.
The LTM will also have its own in-game public event where Lava Rocks crash into Caldera and take out players. Check the Volcano Meter for a visual representation of current activity, also indicated by the increasingly smoky atmosphere throughout the match.
Warzone Season 5 Heroes vs. Villains Seasonal Event
Heroes vs. Villains is said to be a new Community Event where players can pick a side and compete for glory in all game modes by eliminating opponents and scavenging Supply Boxes to collect Villain or Hero Tokens. When live, the event will also feature a discount for Faction Bundles at Buy Stations. Any time players purchase a Faction Bundle, they'll get a discount on one other item across all Buy Stations.
Players will have the chance to earn exclusive rewards like the Legendary animated "One vs. One" Calling Card, the "Hero’s or Villain’s" Weapon Charm, the "Conflict Spike" Melee Weapon Blueprint, the "Time Duality" Watch and more. Perhaps the biggest prize up for grabs, however, is a unique Weapon Blueprint that will be rewarded to everyone on the winning side following the event.
Warzone Season 5 New Items and Tactical Opportunities
The launch of Season 5 will introduce the Doomsday Station, Supply Box UAV, Personal Supply Box and Rage Serum in Warzone.
Within Caldera, the Doomsday Station is said to be a seismic device that, when activated for $10,000, causes enemy soldiers to arrive via helicopters to attack your position. Only one Doomsday Station will appear per match, with multiple possible spawn locations. Similar to the Apex Legends IMC Armory feature, successfully completing a Doomsday Station hold nets players powerful items, as well as a unique Watch cosmetic.
The new Supply Box UAV Killstreak is said to be helpful for tracking down more items. It will mark nearby unopened Supply Boxes on the player’s Tac Map for around 15 seconds. The Supply Box UAV can be found in Supply Boxes and is available for purchase at Buy Stations.
The Personal Supply Box is said to be an "extremely rare crate" that can be found with the Supply Box UAV to give players their loadout weapons and a huge XP boost.
Lastly, a new item credited to developer Toys for Bob, Rage Serum is said to be a new Field Upgrade that allows players to become "violently unstable," resulting in the ability to have superior melee damage, increased lunge distance and enhanced stun power while fighting with melee weapons or fists. It does come with some drawbacks, however, as its users become louder and are especially affected by stuns and flashes.
Warzone Season 5 Peak POI Updates
After "heightened volcanic activity" was said to have been recorded at Caldera, it appears Peak has finally been torn down by lava as players first speculated when the POI first debuted. Lava now runs down the mountainside in all modes and shoots out over the island during Operation: Last Call.
Warzone Season 5 Caldera Gulag
Season 5 will debut a new volcanic-themed Gulag pit that is said to be inspired by an "old favorite."
Warzone Season 5 Lighting Changes
Season 4's storm has seemingly cleared on Caldera, with sunlight now peeking through the volcano’s smoke. Rebirth Island is said to have new lighting changes as well, with a "warm and lush sunset casting a vibrant hue" over the map.
Warzone Season 5 New Weapons
Season 5 will add five new weapons to Warzone, with two available at launch in the new Battle Pass:
- EX1 Energy Rifle (Launch via Battle Pass)
- RA 225 SMG (Launch via Battle Pass)
- Valois Revolver (Launch Window via Bundle/Weapon Unlock Challenge)
- BP50 Assault Rifle (Midseason Update via Bundle/Weapon Unlock Challenge)
- Lienna 57 Assault Rifle (Midseason Update via Bundle/Weapon Unlock Challenge)
Warzone Season 5 New Operators
Season 5 will make four of Call of Duty’s most infamous antagonists available as playable Operators part of Special Operations Task Force Tyrants:
- Raul Menendez (Black Ops II) (Launch)
- Khaled Al-Asad (Modern Warfare) (Launch)
- Gabriel T. Rorke (Ghosts) (In-Season)
- He "Seraph" Zhen-Zhen (Black Ops III) (In-Season)
Warzone Season 5 Midseason Update
Down the line, Rebirth Island is said to be getting a Resurgence Supreme mode, where squads of four will be able to drop in with the best weapons and with respawning enabled. The mode will also seemingly handsomely reward those who win a match with over 15 eliminations.
