AKRON, OHIO: Michael Allio and Danielle Maltby have ended their one-year relationship. Fans of the reality television series Bachelor Nation thought the 'Bachelor in Paradise' alums would be one of the few pairings created to survive.

During the eighth season of the spinoff program, which aired a year after Michael self-eliminated from Katie's season, the pair bonded on the beach through their shared knowledge of bereavement. Danielle invited Michael out on a one-on-one date, with a little help from Sarah Hyland's husband, Wells Adams.

Michael, who left Katie's season because his son missed him, had a crush on Danielle during their first date, during which they kissed. Referring to the situation as "the last first date of his life," Michael opted to pursue Danielle exclusively.

Although he had not proposed to his new woman before the season finale, the couple did say "I love yous" during the 'Bachelor in Paradise' reunion. During their time on the beach, they decided that they weren't emotionally prepared to be engaged.

Despite moving to Ohio to be closer to her boyfriend and his son, Michael claims that the pair were not "compatible" in the long term. Michael, ever the gentleman, made it clear that it wasn't Danielle's fault that the relationship didn't work out.

"You mourn the loss, not of just that person and that friend in your life, but also the future that you had envisioned," the Bachelor Nation hunk explained.

"We’re still working through some things and trying to stay close," he continued. "But last couple months have been really tough."
